Polish Adjectives

An adjectives in Polish as well as in Englsih are words whose main role is to modify a noun or pronoun, giving more information about the noun or pronoun's definition. Some examples are: That is a green tree. I met a very old man.
The most important thing about Polish adjectives is that they may be different for each form: I, You, He, She, It, We, You (p). E.g. In English you have:

  • I am tall (becomes) We are tall
  • You are tall (becomes) You are tall
  • He/She/It is tall (becomes) They are tall
In Polish, however, the forms differ: (wysoki = tall)
  • I am wysoki (becomes) My jesteśmy wysocy
  • You are wysoki (becomes) Wy jesteście wysocy
  • He is wysoki (becomes) Oni są wysocy
  • She is wysoka
  • It is wysoki

Adjectives in Polish should be placed before nouns, if you do otherwise it will sound awkward. Finally don’t worry about the forms too much even if you don’t use them correctly you should still be understood.
