...I present lessons in a way that does not intimidate and I have the students practice until they have mastered the concepts. Come test time, I create mock exams that produce a testing simulation similar to exam day. This way, I find students are less surprised and less anxious by what is presented on the test because they have seen something very similar during tutoring.
